Summary: Tanya, a 10-year-old Russian tourist traveling with her parents from Prague to Brno, is left behind in a foreign country. Tanya leaves her compartment when the train stops because of a cow. Disobeying her parent's instructions, she gets off the train to investigate, lingers too long, and is left behind. Cold, lonely, and clad only in her pajamas in the unfamiliar countryside, the girl is relieved to meet up with two rather nervous Czech boys camping out together for the first time. At first the would-be "cowboys" are frightened by her ghost-like appearance. After hearing her story, the boys find Tanya a dress to wear and accompany the girl on foot to her final destination, Brno.

Comments: Sex, Drugs and Study Hall.

Summary: This coming-of-age story is told from the point of view of Cat (Swain) who is trying to hard to fit into other people's life while searching for her own identity. Swain does a convincing job at playing a confused and depressed young woman who needs to make important choices in her life, and the other actors are certainly better than some teen movies out there. It's not fast-paced, which means some viewers will be dissapointed: however, this is not 'Lolita 2' or 'Cruel Intention 3'. It is a character study, a slice of life of rich kids living in New York City, not a cheap-thrill, teen sex film.
The only thing I'll complain about is this: shame on the production company and distributors to package this film under the title 'Tart' (it has absolutely nothing to do with it, and it's an insult to the scriptwriter and actors involved) and shame on them for letting the public believe that this is a film about sex, drugs and fast life.
Packaged probably and re-titled, this film probably would have done quite well. Get it if you like character studies and dramas, but if you're looking for something like 'Cruel Intention', then you'll be dissapointed.

Summary: Eleven-year old Rikke (Christina Haagensen) lives alone with her father, whose only interest in life seems to be the soccer matches which appear on his television. Not surprisingly, Rikke is somewhat bored. She enters a contest put on by a cereal company which has as its grand prize a horse. Since she lives in the city in a second floor apartment, it never occurred to her that she might win, but win she does. The horse (named "Mama-Mia") duly appears, and she and the members of her slum neighborhood come together to cope with the situation in a delightful way. One of the first things they do is rechristen the horse, so it is now called Tarzan Mama-Mia

When his marriage falls apart, Michal decides to kidnap his daughter rather than let the court award custody to his mentally ill wife. As he finds out, it is easier to be a real man than it is to be a real father.

Summary: Luscious and pretty adaptation, in two parts, of (The Secret Of) The Snow Queen (Sneedronningen) by Hans Christian Andersen. Songs, music, ballet and costumes, tightly knit together in Gerda's archetypal coming of age tale.

Comments: Not everything is love

Summary: Johan, convicted for the murder of his father and sister, has been locked up in a TBS clinic (a hospital for criminals with a psychical disorder) for years. When he hears he will be transfered to a Long Stay ward - where nobody has ever been released from - he hopes his mother, who he hasn't spoken for years, will come to his hearing so she can tell the judge he didn't murder his sister, that his father abused him and was about to abuse his sister and that Johan therefore killed his father. However, his mother doesn't turn up. Realizing he's out of options, he escapes, determined to find his mother, so she can write a statement saying what really happened. Pretty soon however, he gets pursued by the police and in a rather desperate attempt to stay out of their hands, he kidnaps a 13-year old girl, Tessa. Together they drive through the Netherlands and Belgium to find his mother.

When they'd first moved in, Katie had a panic attack in the basement, brought on by stories that the devil once appeared down there. But with her father's help, she slowly descends the ten steps to the bottom, each step into darkness inducing more and more terror, building up the suspense in a most simple, yet THE most effective way.

Summary: Summer 1939 in the Provence, France: the 14 years old Julien has a crush on his cousin Julia, who lives together with his family in their small hotel. Unfortunately she ignores him, because she's several years older. Then the hotel guest Charles enters the competition, a slimy twenty-something who lusts for the girl, despite the fact that he's engaged.

Comments: Terror Beyond Belief

Summary: With Argento's trademark visual style, linked with one of his more coherent plots, Tenebrae follows a writer who arrives to Rome only to find somebody is using his novels as the inspiration (and, occasionally, the means) of committing murder. As the death toll mounts the police are ever baffled, and the writer becomes more closely linked to the case than is comfortable.

Summary: A small country village has a school with only 7 students and they are almost all in different grades 1-8. When a new boy comes to the village he is welcomed from the other children. The eldest of the group 'Soyo' is simply captivated by 'Hiromi' the handsome new boy from Tokyo.

When Soyo and Osawa exchange their first kiss through a small incident they become a couple. Soyo struggles to find a balance between falling in love for the first time and holding on to her precious life with the other children.

Summary: Laura Stone teaches at a local college and is wife to Daniel, a comic book artist. Their idyllic lives are turned upside down when their daughter, Trixie, accuses her ex-boyfriend, Jason, of raping her. When Jason later dies in an apparent suicide, the family finds itself in the center of a high profile investigation that rocks their community revealing just how far parents will go to protect their children.

Summary: The story revolves around Luca, Margherita and Franz, three people who have a common destiny and a violent past. Luca carries with him the memory of his youth, destroyed by the repeated sexual abuse of his father. He is investigating, with Margherita (the assistant district attorney) and Franz (the district attorney), a certain Dolbecco who, besides catering to those who seek perverse sexual experiences, produces pornographic videos.

Summary: A group of adventurers head to a primitive tribe in Africa to find a treasure of diamonds and a beautiful white girl who was lost years ago and was made the tribe's goddess.

Summary: Lulu is 15 years old, living in an idealized French countryside with her parents. Her mother has been depressed and sickly as far back as she can remember, a state which is about to be challenged by a Lulu who slips slowly into young adulthood. The real trigger occurs when Lulu stumbles on an old picture of her mother, where she's radiant, and Lulu realizes something must have happened along the way. Her second thought, being the entrepreneurial type that she is, is it may also be the route to get her back. A two generational first-love tale unfolds with Lulu at the helm. The script and movie has the marks of a young woman all over it, both in its strengths and in its weaknesses. One of the great strengths of the film, is Lulu's character. Not only are the dialogues well-done, but we also get a credible insight into her thoughts which are often brisk and abrupt. They are also very funny, for a large part because it is credible. Visually, we see her as a tomboy and at other times as a pretty young women. This mild oscillation of character presentation goes perfectly hand in hand with her words. As thoughtfully as the female characters (Lulu, mother, grandmother) are presented, that's how inversely flat the male (love interest) characters are. Since it is somewhat inherent within the project, an Almodovarian -we'll just cut them out- attitude could have been considered. The most obvious example is her father, who gets quite some screen time, but without properly establishing his character. He is endlessly patient towards his depressed wife, but some indication why he loves her so would have helped, even if it was out of a Christian obligation. Some small details went over the top - the father's sympathetic nod to his wife's old love was just too much. As for Lulu, she could have been a little nicer to her girl-friend to justify their friendship, but even if we brush over these imperfections, you still have a beautiful, funny and captivating tale left. It is rare to see such depth of a young character in cinema. An excellent debut by Ms Tardieu which I highly recommend.

Comments: In everyone's life there's a friendship you never forget.

Summary: In 1961 Long Island Alice is just that bit younger than her playmates. She doesn't quite understand yet about some grownup things and is teased a lot. Her heroine is anyway Sheryl, the teenager over the road who has a succession of boyfriends. Alice even copies her perfume and favourite records, though she has never spoken to her. When Sheryl's father dies suddenly and she takes up with Rick, who is viewed with horror by all the parents around, she and Alice become firm friends as they try to keep the romance going.

The treasure is buried and the slave killed and laid on top of the ground to "guard" the treasure and frighten the Indians away. Back in present day, Julie has a dramatic encounter with a large Roosevelt Elk on the beach. Its hooves uncover an old Spanish gold coin in the sand. The Elk becomes Julie's silent, watchful guide and protector as she becomes fascinated by the legend of the Tillamook Treasure and becomes drawn to the search for the gold. This strikes Janne as odd considering that he had a vasectomy a year before. Soon the party devolves into utter chaos.

Summary: Amanda is 15 years old and arrested for murder she is a user of street drugs and alcohol, a prostitute raped by a family member and married. All this before her sixteenth birthday, this film was BASED on a true story, and I believe that's the twister in this film. Based on a story, probably means that many scenarios were added to spice it up. Although I have tried to research this film and came across some information that is contradictory. I tried to find out about executions carried out in Oklahoma and also Amanda's execution. Oklahoma has never used the gas chamber for executions. Electrocution was used from early 1915 til 1966 using, Old Sparky. Electric chair since 1977, the prescribed method is lethal injection. This film reminds me of a book I recently read. "A house full of whispers" and the author states her book is a true account. The film held my attention and the actress who portrayed this poor young girl made it believable. Well done Juliette Lewis.

Yet, time heals wounds, and as these two mend their relationship by caring for a hurt bird, interactions with siblings and parents as well as moments of first love occur. An intelligent, well-done drama that should be easy enough for non-German speakers to follow.

When Grace's mother passes on, Grace flies to Africa to visit Gary for the first time in years. While Gary is thrilled to see Grace, work calls him away the day after she arrives, and he boards a small plane to take some needed supplies into a remote area. However, the plane hits some bad weather and crashes, with the wreckage found by a band of revolutionary soldiers. The makeshift army is battling wealthy mining moguls like Gary, appalled by the child labor, environmental devastation and economic exploitation that thrive in their wake.

Summary: A new family moves into the house, where a witch of sorts holds an evil troll captive. The young daughter inadvertantly frees the troll, who captures her, and takes her place in disguise. He then starts turning the building's apartments and tennants (including Julia Louis-Dryfus!) into parts of his old Fairy World. If he turns the whole building, then his world will be permanantly connected to ours. It's up to the older brother, inexplicitly named Harry Potter Jr. (and played by the same kid who played Atreyu in The Neverending Story) to save his sister, and the world.

the most important harbingers of the hope of a national rebirth -the legend of Jostedalsrypa- the
Jostedal Grouse. Second Sight is the fascinating film version of this legend. East in the district of
Sogn lies the valley Justedal. At the time of the Black Death the inhabitants of Justedal try to
isolate themselves to avoid contamination. This notwithstanding, the disease reached their valley

To take a break from all this romantic hassle it's time for a holiday trip, and Tsatsiki and his mother end up in the very same Greek village where Tsatsiki was conceived a decade earlier.

Summary: The twin sisters Helena and Irene are born in Helsinki during World War II. A few months later their mother, Sirkka, leaves the girls in the care of their grandmother, an old communist, and runs away with a German soldier. Their life under the protection of their grandmother and the teachings of communism ends first with the death of Stalin, then with that of their grandmother. The girls are eight years old when they are put in an orphanage. Their mother shows up at the orphanage in the company of Ramon, a Spanish trapeze artist. They are on a talent search for a German circus. Ramon trains the reluctant Irene during circus tours in Central Europe. She becomes the trapeze star of the circus. The hard work soon exhausts Irene and she falls from height, as if on purpose. Helena has secretly learned the art of fire-eating. Now she is burdened with both her mother and her sister. The violent life, however, separates the three from each other. In the present-day Helsinki the middle-aged Helena has looked into her past, ceased to hate and now, for the first time in her life, voluntarily accepts responsibility for another human being.

There Mom takes up with a controlling trucker and fights with her weirdo boss. Meanwhile, the daughter, used to making the constant shifts, finds a fit at school including getting chosen for a play lead.

Summary: When 11 year olds, Julia and Martin, meet in the Stockholm airport, they feel as if they are looking into the mirror. Julia and Martin decide they are two pieces of broken glass, cosmic twins, and decide to play a trick on their divorced, estranged parents by switching places. Martin, a quiet piano player suddenly finds himself in a frilly dress with a pro-wrestling stepfather. Julia, a tough city girl finds herself in a peaceful rural haven where she must cope with extended relatives and a fathers lady friend. Summary: A young woman arrives at the London home of a bachelor, to be interviewed for her first appointment as a governess. She is apprehensive—she has never been alone with a man outside her own home.

The Master is charming, and quite sweeps the young Miss off her feet. He offers her an attractive salary to look after his young nephew and niece at his country mansion. But he has a strange stipulation. She must never bother him about the children, on any account.
The governess is impressed with her new responsibility, by the beauty of the children, the grandeur of the house, but most of all by the charm of their uncle. But as she settles into life in the country, sinister things start to happen.

She is convinced she has seen an unpleasant looking man in the house. When she describes him to the housekeeper Mrs Grose recognises him as Peter Quint, the Master's old valet. But Mrs Grose explains that Peter Quint is dead. Then the governess sees another figure—Miss Jessel— the children's former governess and Quint's lover, who died as a result of Quint's seduction and betrayal.

When the children, Miles and Flora, behave in such a way as to suggest that they are aware of, and possibly even in league with the apparitions, the governess thinks they must have been corrupted. She feels she alone can save them. The stage is set for a battle of good and evil.

Summary: Laura (Bibi Andersson) has long been divorced from her theater-critic husband Alfred (Anthony Perkins), though they still see one another from time to time. One day, while working at the icon museum she directs, Laura strikes up a conversation with Sylvia (Sandrine Dumas). The two take a shine to one another immediately, and soon they are in bed together. This begins to lead to problems, because Sylvia is young and still lives at home with her parents, who are beginning to suspect something has been going on. Ex-husband Alfred chimes in, saying that Laura should be more careful. By this time, Alfred and Sylvia have also become lovers, as Laura soon discovers.

Summary: In 1926 in Germany, the twin sisters Anna and Lotte Bamberg are separated after the death of their parents. Anna stays in Germany with her ignorant catholic uncle and aunt in their small property, and Lotte, with tuberculosis, moves to Holland. Anna is not sent to school, to work in the farm, while Lotte is raised by an upper class family having good education. They do not have any contact with each other, but near the World War II they meet each other. Later Anna marries a young SS officer, while Lotte is engaged of a Jewish musician. Their lives follow different and opposite paths with the war. Anna never gives-up getting their reconciliation.

Comments: Do You Know Who Your Kids Are?

Summary: The raw and fragile lives of three preteens unravel in "12 and Holding", a rich and compelling independent film. When an outgoing boy named Rudy is accidentally killed by two other boys, Rudy's twin brother Jacob (Conor Donovan) starts visiting the killers in prison to try to make sense of his life and of his parent's diverse reactions; his mother (Jayne Atkinson, "24") craves revenge while his father (Linus Roache, "Priest") tries to move forward. Meanwhile, two of the twins' friends also spin off in diverse directions: Precocious Malee (Zoe Weizenbaum) becomes fixated on a troubled construction worker (Jeremy Renner, "North Country"), while overweight Leonard (Jesse Camacho) obsesses on losing weight and forcing his obese family to lose weight as well. "12 and Holding" moves fluidly between these three stories, gradually building an emotional intimacy with the characters that is unsettling, sad, and finally rewarding. The movie hits a few false notes, but the vast majority of the scenes feel vivid and honest, much like director Michael Cuesta's previous film, "L.I.E.". Both the adults (including Annabella Sciorra, "Jungle Fever") and the kids give excellent performances; Renner's wrenching turn stands out, but the entire cast makes this a memorable and complex film.
